About Us |
|
Why is the ministry called HIS Foundation? We believe that everything belongs to the Lord and we are only His vessels. That is why the foundation is names HIS Foundation. It is all His and we did not want to use our name in anyway. From the beginning, we have capitalized HIS for no apparent reason until we were at the bank opening a checking account. The young man that was assisting us asked me what HIS meant. My reply was it belongs to Him, God. Then I began to think about HIS. Then I began to think about HIS. That could be an acronym for what evolved into Hands-up In Success with Christ as the Foundation. WHY? What is the purpose of HIS Foundation? We believe that each of us is made uniquely by God for a purpose to serve Him and give Him honor and glory. Yet, we are unable to shine because of our life circumstances. (Job 30:33) We are uniquely and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14) First, it is necessary to meet the individual’s basic needs for survival, such as food, clothing and shelter. When I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me ,I needed clothes and you clothed me…… whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me. (Matthew 25:35,36,40) Second, share the unconditional love of Christ with them by connecting them with other Christians that will support them. The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners Isaiah 61:1 Third, provide them with a hand-up, not a hand out. Equip them to be the best they can be at home and at work. These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God. In the same way, encourage the young men to live wisely. Titus 2:4-6 WHAT? HIS Foundation will begin with a community-based abstinence and character-building program. As Ben Franklin said, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. The first phase will also include a community resource and counseling center and expand to include parenting classes, life skills classes, and job skill training. The services offered as part of these programs will be based on the needs of the participants. We are also exploring the possibility of providing a job-training site for the restaurant business. WHEN and WHERE? This is still in God’s hands… We have identified several potential locations and are continuing to pray on where to begin. |
